On Thursday, August 11 at 6:00p we held a contemporary celebration of the Eucharist. Fr. John Bedingfield and the Joy Jammers provided music and we used one of the new forms of the service from Enriching Our Worship. It was a beautiful service and we thank everyone who participated or attended.
The 6th annual St. Barnabas Swim Party and Cookout, held on August 13, was a roaring success. Riverside Swim Club—as always—offered the perfect setting for our gathering of nearly 100 enthusiastic folks, and the weather cooperated to allow lots of time in the pool. Jimmy Bolling and Eva Guillot did the heavy lifting in hauling and setting up, and Jimmy manned the serious flipping of burgers and dogs on the grill. Eva was responsible for a special treat this year, a snow cone machine enjoyed by all. Paul Leberg and Mary Catherine Hager shopped, helped with setup and cooking, and offered the backup afforded by their proximity to the pool. All attendees contributed to the fantastic spread of food (we do know how to eat!) and to the fun atmosphere. Lots of swimming, talking, eating, and laughing—we had a wonderful time.
