AcolytesThe Acolytes are the Youth (6th – 12th Grades) of Saint Barnabas who serve at the altar during worship on Sunday mornings. Responsibilities include carrying the cross and torches, tending our candles, and assisting the clergy in setting the table during the Offertory. During special services, the Acolytes have increased responsibility in processions, including service as thurifers, those servers who swing the incense. The Acolytes vest each Sunday and enhance our worship life
with their participation and leadership. Acolytes serve in a scheduled,
regular rotation, and serve approximately twice a month. We hope to
enhance this ministry to include more opportunities for fellowship and
continuing education. All Youth of the parish are invited to participate in worship as Acolytes. We have training and organizational sessions in the fall and spring, and can always provide personal instruction between plenary sessions. For more information, contact the Acolyte Master, Barry LaFleur: acolytemaster@saintbarnabas.us, or (337) 269.4901.
