Children's & Youth Music MinistriesA new vision of music ministry with the children (ages 6-10)
and youth (ages 10-14) of Saint Barnabas has begun with the calling of
Norma Jean Luckey as Director of Children’s & Youth Music
Ministries. Mrs. Luckey, who led the UL Children’s Chorus for twenty
years, offers the opportunity to glorify God through music by using our
children’s voices and instrumental musical talents together. Each
rehearsal is packed full of fun and games while creating music for
worship. If your child has an instrument, please bring it along to the
Thursday afternoon rehearsals (4:30-5:30p, for Children; 5:30-6:30p,
for Youth). A Study Hall has been added from 4:30-6:30p, so that while
one child is in rehearsal, siblings who attend the other group
rehearsal may participate in study hall. This way parents have to make
only one trip. The Children’s & Youth Music Ministries will occasionally
perform for our local retirement homes as an outreach ministry of the
church. Bringing with her American-adapted Kodaly teaching techniques,
Mrs. Luckey shapes our Children’s & Youth Music Ministries so that
the experience is fun, with an intertwining thread of group community
and Christian sharing of talents—every child can contribute, and our
