Contemplative Prayer Group

Do you need Peace in your life?

After a number of years of reading about Christian meditation and contemplative prayer in the writings of Thomas Merton, Richard Rohr, and Thomas Keating, parishioner Jim Lambert attended a conference on the subject in Houston where, in the company of almost one thousand peaceful and centered Christian souls from all the fifty states and several countries, he participated in a mass meditation using an ancient scriptural reading technique known as Lectio Divina. Lectio Divina involves a slow, deliberate reading of a scripture followed by a period of silent meditation. Upon returning, he began to envision forming such a group at Saint Barnabas, and we now meet weekly for contemplative prayer and meditation. The Contemplative Prayer Group meets on Sunday evenings at 7:00p in the Sanctuary, following the 6:00p celebration of Holy Eucharist, and lasts about an hour.
