Where?: Acadiana
Outreach Center is located at 125 South Buchanan Street, on the corner
of S. Buchanan and 2nd Street in downtown Lafayette.
What?: Acadiana
Outreach serves the south Louisiana parishes of Lafayette, Acadia,
Cameron, Iberia, Vermilion, Evangeline, St. Landry, St. Martin and St.
Mary, providing the poor and homeless with a full continuum of services
including emergency and transitional shelter, skills training, housing
and employment services, licensed addiction and mental health treatment
centers.
Why?: The mission is
helping to give people back their God-given dignity by transforming
lives to reach their highest potential.
When?: The center is a
full time service, seven days a week and year round.
Who?: The Episcopal
Diocese was instrumental in starting Acadiana Outreach over 16 years
ago. Today, a full time professional staff manages the center, under
the direction of Valerie Keller, Executive Director. St. Barnabas
parishioners have been working with and contributing to Acadiana
Outreach since its inception.
November 2008: The
congregation will help donate items for 100 bags for the annual ECW
Christmas Bags which will be delivered for clients.
May 2008: St. Barnabas
parishioners collected and delivered 25 bags of mens clothing in memory
of Fr. Ken Cooper.
December 2007: 100
bags of toiletry items were collected and donated for the annual ECW
Christmas Bags donation.
