Family Promise

Where?: Family Promise of Acadiana is located at 714 A Johnston Street, downtown Lafayette.

What?: Part of the national Family Promise network, the program unites communities of faith in a collaborative effort to assist homeless families by providing shelter, meals and comprehensive support. It is the only shelter program in the area serving entire families, including married couples, single dads and teen boys.

Why?: The goal of Family Promise is to help families grow into longterm independence, with permanent housing and employment.

When?: The program operates seven days a week and year round.

Who?: Established in our area in 2004, Family Promise operates with a minimal staff and over 300 volunteers under the direction of Executive Director Renee Menard.

July 2008: Provided volunteers and meals as Support Church to guests housed at the Episcopal Church of the Ascension.

June 2008: $250 Monetary donation for food and supplies. Additionally, St. Barnabas provided volunteers and meals as Support Church to guests housed at the Episcopal Church of the Ascension.
