Stuller Place - SANE Program

Where: Located in Lafayette, Louisiana, Stuller Place provides its services to the parishes of Lafayette, Acadia, Vermilion, Iberia, St. Martin, St. Landry and Evengeline.

What?: Stuller Place is a 501(c)(3) non-profit agency whose aim is to reduce the trauma experienced by child and adult victims of sexual abuse and sexual assault. All services are confidential and are completed without expense for the clients.

Why?: Stuller Place houses three programs with administration and staff carrying out the distinct missions of each program as one organization:  Sexual Abuse Response Center provides a 24 hour crisis line, advocacy in local emergency rooms and crisis intervention counseling for children and adults; Childrens Advocacy Center provides a child friendly environment where a forensic interview and mental health services for children ages 2-17 can be conducted when abuse allegations are investigated; and SANE provides a forensically trained nurse to conduct and document skillful forensic evidence collection with compassionate care when a patient makes a disclosure of sexual assault.

When?: Stuller Place is a full time service, seven days a week/ year round.

Who?: SARC began in 1981 as the Rape Crisis Center with CAC originally opening its doors in 1996. Stuller Place merged these two programs in 1999 and is currently headed by Faith Moody, Executive Director. Parishioner Joeann Dalton is the Supervisor of SANE.

March 2008: Parishioners collected and assembled 100 care packets and 100 pairs of medical scrubs for distribution to SANE patients.

October 2007: $1000 As one of four 2007 Outreach grant recipients, the funds were used to purchase a fire resistant file cabinet to 21 store medical records for the
SANE program.
