St. Barnabas Cancels 2021 Pumpkin Patch
It is with a heavy heart that the St. Barnabas Episcopal Church Vestry, Fr. Michael Bordelon, and the Pumpkin Patch Committee announce the cancellation of the 2021 Pumpkin Patch fundraiser benefiting the Youth Ministries of our church.
At St. Barnabas, we take seriously the charge to love our neighbors as ourselves. We have been diligently monitoring the rising number of Covid-19 cases in our community, and we have consulted with the Louisiana Department of Health to assist us in making the most informed and compassionate decision possible. With the current variant impacting both vaccinated and unvaccinated individuals, along with adults and children alike, we feel this is a necessary step we must take toward keeping our volunteers, vendors, and everyone in the community safe.
The St. Barnabas community is grateful for the support shown to our Youth Ministries through last year’s inaugural Pumpkin Patch. We hope to be back next October with a Pumpkin Patch that will be better than ever. In order for that to happen, we must all do our part. We encourage everyone to join us in fulfilling Jesus’s directive to love our neighbors as ourselves. We can do this by getting vaccinated when possible, wearing masks when in public, and following all other recommended mitigation efforts in order to bring an end to this pandemic. We also encourage everyone to practice grace and understanding as you interact with one another, and to pray for one another.
We appreciate your understanding as we are all faced with making these tough decisions. We look forward to next year’s event as we continue our fundraising campaign to build a new playground, which will be open to the public. If you have any questions, please contact the church office.
