The Very Rev. John W. Clark
Interim Priest
The Very Rev’d John Clark is our full-time interim priest who will serve St. Barnabas until we call a new rector to our parish. John’s major goal as interim priest is to prepare the people of St. Barnabas for the coming of the next rector. As interim priest John is not eligible to be a candidate for rector. John’s primary duties include working with the vestry, other clergy, and lay leaders to maintain the regular schedule of worship services, Christian education, pastoral care and pastoral offices (weddings, funerals, baptisms), calling upon the sick and shut-ins, visiting newcomers, and providing assistance with the day-to-day administration of the parish. John is also responsible for the supervision of assisting clergy, and, other administrative staff as requested by the Senior Warden. John has served part-time at St. Barnabas as Priest for Pastoral Care since the summer of 2008 and currently also serves as Dean of the Acadiana Convocation.
A native of Roswell, New Mexico, John received a B.S. in Civil Engineering from New Mexico State University and worked for Cabot Corporation for nearly 25 years before heading for seminary at the Episcopal Theological seminary of the Southwest in Austin, Texas. John and his wife of thirty-two years live in Crowley, Louisiana where he previously served for nine years as rector of Trinity Episcopal Church. John and Phyllis have three grown sons and six wonderful grandchildren. John is also an avid gardener, which he reports, “mends the heart.”
