Jim Pate

Senior Warden


A native of Shreveport, Jim Pate has made his home in Lafayette since 1980. Jim has been a member of St. Barnabas since 1997 and was selected to serve as its senior warden at the 2010 vestry retreat. Jim plans to continue the work of the 2009 vestry and the leadership of its senior warden, Kate Loos, during the calling process for the new rector. Jim is also committed to a continued focus on the vitality of the mission of St. Barnabas, as well as the pressing needs for the maintenance necessary to its physical plant.

After graduating from Loyola Law School in 1979, Jim has practiced law in Lafayette since 1980 and has been a partner with the law firm of Laborde & Neuner since 1987, where he specializes in governmental liability litigation and insurance coverage disputes. Professionally, Jim serves on a number of state and local organizations, has served as chairman of the Louisiana Disciplinary Board and in 2008 had the honor of being inducted into the American College of Trial Lawyers.

Jim served for nine years as a member of the Board of Trustees at ESA spending two of those years as its chairman.

Jim is married to Andrea, and they are the parents of three beautiful daughters, Allison, Erin and Caitlin and have two grandsons. Allison is married to Garrett Rosen, and they have a new born son, Anders Martin. Erin is married to Blake Romero, and they are the parents of Coen James, soon to be three years old. Caitlin is in her second year at physical therapy school in New Orleans.

Jim looks forward to working with the talented and enthusiastic members of the vestry and the challenges St. Barnabas faces.
