Community Garden Presentation

St. Barnabas Community Garden

Please join us on Saturday, April 26 at 9:00a in Ramsay Hall.

Gerald P. Roberts, Horticulturist and Master Gardener with the LSU AgCenter here in Lafayette, will give a talk/presentation on vegetable production, soil analysis, and pest control. You don’t have to have a plot in our garden to come and enjoy his talk, and you might just learn something. At the very least, come and enjoy the fellowship!

Shawn Roy -- Singing the role of Elijah in the oratorio Elijah

Our music minister, Shawn Roy, is singing the role of Elijah in the oratorio Elijah by Felix Mendelssohn on Sunday, May 4, 2014 at 3:00p at Asbury Methodist Church, Lafayette, LA.. Accompanied by the Asbury Methodist choir, orchestra and conducted by Dr. Lee Cooke. Come on out and hear this wonderful religious work!

Cursillo # 147 will occur on May 8—11, 2014 at Camp Hardtner.

Are you interested in a deeper relationship with God?

May I suggest that you prayerfully consider making your Cursillo? For me, it was a process that occurred over many years. For others, the process could be counted in weeks, for others in days, and for others in moments. Whatever the length of consideration time, I can assure you that it is God’s time.

Cursillo # 147 will occur on May 8—11, 2014 at Camp Hardtner. That’s Mother’s Day weekend which makes this Cursillo special. Jesus Christ, God’s only begotten Son, came to us all, born of a woman. If you would like to know more about Cursillo, please check the Episcopal Diocese of Western Louisiana or National Episcopal Cursillo website or contact me, George Horton. Applications for Cursillo # 147 can be obtained from the website or me. I would be most happy to visit with you about what for me was the most meaningful event of my life. I close this with three words of thought. Pray, listen, follow.

Welcome to Saint Barnabas

Saint Barnabas Episcopal Church is a Christ-Centered Community which exists to restore all people to unity with God and each other in Christ by proclaiming the Gospel, worshiping together and celebrating the Eucharist, consciously committing our whole selves, ministering to our parish family and to others while growing spiritually through prayer and study.

Beginning Our Next 50 Years
A Prayer for St. Barnabas
Loving God, by whose grace we have our very being; we give you most hearty thanks for St. Barnabas and his example of mission and ministry, and we give you thanks for this parish which carries his name.  As we begin our next fifty years of service to you and to the world, we ask that you continue to bless us as abundantly as you have in the past.  We ask that your Holy Spirit teach and guide us as we move forward into the future, keeping us always aware that we are your hands, feet and voice in the world, called to love you and our neighbor in all that we do.  We pray these things in the name of your perfect servant, Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with you and Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever.  Amen.

                                                                                                                     Faithfully,  Fr. John B+
